The Happy Mondays Reformation - Rowetta Interview

Following the great news that the Happy Mondays have reformed, with the original lineup back together for the first time since 1992, we caught up with legendary singer, and Keep It Casual favourite, Rowetta. Read below to find out how it happened, what its like being back with the original lineup, and what is in store for the tour, which tickets go on sale for tomorrow at 9am. (See below the interview for the Tour Poster, and the link for Tickets).

The news that the Mondays have fully reformed has obviously got us very excited. How did it happen?

When news of the Roses got out, offers started coming in for the Mondays to get back together. Shaun and his manager, Warren Askew started the ball rolling and when everybody heard that they wanted everybody in, it became interesting, as the definitive, original lineup had never reformed before and the last gig was in Tokyo in November 1992... 20 years ago!

Whats it like being all back together?

It's really great because I consider these lads to be my family. We spent many years together, travelling the world on tour buses, playing some of the biggest stages, making each other laugh and cry and because nobody, including us, thought it would ever be possible, it makes it all the more special.

Tickets go on sale for the tour tomorrow. How you feeling about that, and what shall we expect from the shows?

It's really exciting. Some great venues on the tour and the response from the Mondays fans has been incredible. We really want to put on a great show. Bigger than before and to blow people away. We'll be working hard to make sure the arrangements are great and the band are tight and we all want to do justice to all the songs people know and love and recreate that buzz that you could only get at a Mondays gig.

What do you have planned for the future, and will you be playing any of the summer festivals, and releasing some new material?

Nobody knows what will happen in the future. We are all just concentrating on the tour in May. Nothing else has been discussed by us as a band.
