Vivid Riot and Cass
Pennant present a truly unique night
dedicated to football casual culture and music. This very special
night is headlined by Sheffield’s Section 60. Also on this
impressive bill are Stoke’s The Blue Collars, Reading’s Violet
Class and Southend’s Plastic Youth. Award Winning author and film
director Cass Pennant will compere the evening, whilst DJ Dan Nolan
will spin a host of new and old musical classics related to the
casual scene.
Casuals Live is the
first event of its kind and caters for an audience that is diverse
and active when it comes to music, fashion and football culture. The
bands on the night mix youthful independent musical passion with mod
(ernist) sensibilities, whilst looking very sharp at all times
Praise and hype for
the artists featured on the night have
reached far and wide. Nick Macabe (The Verve) Produced Plastic
Youth’s first single and the band are signed to Gary Powell’s
(The Libertines) record label. Violet Class also have impressive
plaudits including Stephen Street (producer The Smiths Blur and The
Courteneers). The Blue Collars have had mountains of internet press
and radio play. Headliners Section 60 can reveal in the fact that
they have Reverend and The Makers and Liam Gallagher as fans (The
band have been invited to play Gallagher’s Pretty Green store).
ITunes described Section 60’s debut album as, “Got to be heard.”

popularity with a music blog that reviews, interviews and features
the best in new independent music. Their ‘Football Casual Podcasts’
have gained thousands of listeners with a diverse mix of music,
making Vivid Riot “The music site that doesn’t f**k about”
Cass Pennant’s name is
known worldwide as an author who specializes in football culture
writing. Cass has published numerous best-selling books and has also
had an eponymous film made about his life which gained critical
acclaim. Pennant’s last venture was a documentary called ‘Casuals’
which won best film at the highly acclaimed Portobello film festival
2012. Included in the ticket price is a copy of Cass’ award-winning
DVD which tells the story of football casual culture.
Casuals Live
promises be a night to remember and is already generating a
huge buzz by both word of mouth and on social media sites. An event
of this kind is long overdue and those that have seen what is in
store are already chomping at the bit to be involved.
